Practice Self-Compassion

Image
Loving thyself  Having love, compassion and kindness for yourself seemed very odd when I first heard it. I mean I know to love, be kind and compassionate to others. I was taught that at an early age and try to do it to the best of my ability in these modern times. Sometimes I would hear "give yourself a hug" or a "pat on the back" growing up but I would never put much emphasis on it. In reality self kindness and love is extremely important since we spend a lot of our time creating judgement for everything we do. We often make very harsh statements about ourselves like demeaning our intelligence by saying how stupid we are or attacking our physical body's imperfections. Instead, I feel it would be more beneficial to say "its ok I made that mistake, I am not stupid and I am learning to improve everyday." This positive thinking can help alleviate suffering and bring us that warm comfort in our lives. Avoiding Isolation Imagine how one feels after long p...

Sharpen your Emotional Intelligence

Image
Describing Emotional Intelligence  I've always had a lack of understanding of what Emotional Intelligence is. My first impression is that its somehow connected to how smart you are. On the contrary, it is defined as the ability to identify and manage your emotions and those of other people. We do this by using empathy with our friends, family and colleagues. Also with our own emotions we are then able to regulate our feelings better and solve problems more effectively.  Children have a higher difficulty dealing with their emotions. They are not given the opportunity to value the emotions that they feel. Boys for instance as I was growing up were taught not to cry for fear of ridicule. Boys were told just bury it deep and be strong. This insecurity of who we are in the eyes of others will then hinder our emotional intelligence which leads to bullying and judgement. Imagine a world where emotional intelligence could be taught in modern schools. I am pretty sure kids would be hap...

Activate our Awareness

Getting caught in the wave We as human beings can be stressed out on a daily basis. The world today moves so quickly especially with digitalization being front and center. We get caught up in the wave or as we sometimes call the daily grind which moves so fast that we cannot be in the moment. Weeks and months continue along and everything is the same. So how do we deal with all the confusion? What's the purpose of us just marching along with how society functions. Does it bring us real happiness? This frustration that we feel will manifest itself further unless we look into our minds to understand it better. We should be able to calm ourselves through meditation but it takes a lot of practice. We are always confronted with the craziness of our minds or as some call the "Monkey mind". Monkey Mind The idea of Monkey Mind is a Buddhist term which means "unsettled, indecisive or uncontrollable". Many of us have this scattered mind which creates negative ideas towar...

Manifest the Universe

Image
What is Manifestation We hear a lot these days about the word Manifestation, but what exactly is it? Well basically it's an exercise that we can practice of bringing something into our existence through mindfulness. It is the idea that our thoughts can influence the material world through what many people call the "law of attraction." For example, if you tell yourself "I will never succeed in life and always be poor," then you are giving the universe permission to give you exactly what you are manifesting on a daily basis. On the flip side, if you practice saying for example "I will get that promotion and get a better place" then you are positively planting the seed to the life you desire. Build an outstanding Life In order to manifest the life we desire we need to be intentional. Don't just say you are going to do it, you need to create an action plan. I like to wake up early, 5am everyday. Why? So I have the room to myself with no distractions, e...

Our Mindset in Life

Image
Our Mindset defined The Mindset is a created set of attitudes established by a particular group of social or cultural values. It is basically a set of beliefs that shape the way you make sense of the world in what I like to look as a continuous growth perspective. I believe growth can be achieved by continuous persistence and by creating micro habits which if carefully engineered over time in our daily lives will prove stunning results. Most people however are not good at establishing a growth mindset. I can say that even after many years of experience in numerous fields of work that I am still a work in progress. The majority of our population is in a reactive state of mind, being bothered by very insignificant issues. They are not relaxed, centered and peaceful. They don't feel fully connected to the present moment and that's where mindfulness takes center stage. What is Mindfulness Mindfulness essentially is about paying attention or more centrally about when we take intere...
