Our Mindset in Life

 Our Mindset defined

The Mindset is a created set of attitudes established by a particular group of social or cultural values. It is basically a set of beliefs that shape the way you make sense of the world in what I like to look as a continuous growth perspective. I believe growth can be achieved by continuous persistence and by creating micro habits which if carefully engineered over time in our daily lives will prove stunning results.

Most people however are not good at establishing a growth mindset. I can say that even after many years of experience in numerous fields of work that I am still a work in progress. The majority of our population is in a reactive state of mind, being bothered by very insignificant issues. They are not relaxed, centered and peaceful. They don't feel fully connected to the present moment and that's where mindfulness takes center stage.

What is Mindfulness

Mindfulness essentially is about paying attention or more centrally about when we take interest in purposely focusing on everything around us in which awareness occurs. Just be present and live in the now.

Unfortunately what we normally do is spend an excessive amount of time focusing on future or past events. Future events could be what tasks we need to do which are giving us anxious or worrying thoughts. Past events are basically the way I put it the memories we've experienced which we still carry with us in our daily lives whether positive or negative. Past thoughts can bring feelings of guilt or regret.

Training our Mind

Training your mind to stay focused requires the right amount of attention and to engage all of your senses to the most simple things in life.
A perfect example is a sunset. We know by default that the sun will rise and set everyday so we take those things for granted. If however, the sun was to rise and set only once a year then people would be more appreciative of its beauty.
Mindfulness allows us to train our mind to observe our thoughts and explore the facts in a neutral way. An effective way to lay the groundwork in achieving mindfulness is through meditation.

Live mindfully through Meditation

Meditation lays the foundation to be in the present moment. Through deep breathing we are able to focus our attention in the present moment and not be distracted by our daily thoughts. Of course our thoughts will always be there but with daily practice we can gently bring our minds back to the present moment by focusing on the breath. Its not about emptying the mind; its about being content of who we are as human beings. Intentional awareness will allow us to tune in to how we feel in the present.

Once meditation becomes part of our daily routine then mindfulness will take center stage. We use all of our senses to do our daily tasks whether its eating, working or doing our daily chores. By living mindfully with intent and awareness we can have more loving relationships, more meaningful jobs and better friendships.

Most people will read this and say yes I want more meaning in my life with less anxiety and worry but how do I implement this today? The answer is You just Start.

It took me a long time to build up the courage to start writing this blog. My mind would always say I don't have the time or the talent to do it. But I made it happen. You want a better life then yes you can make it happen.

So let's begin.......
