Trust your Internal Messenger

"Know Thyself."

Socrates

Ever had that little voice in your head whisper, “Hey… maybe don’t eat that whole bag of chips… and you immediately respond, “Silence, wise one—I know what I’m doing”? Yeah, we’ve all been there once or twice.

That little voice? That’s your *internal messenger*—your built-in GPS for life. And just like your phone’s GPS, it can be incredibly helpful… unless you ignore it and confidently drive straight into a metaphorical lake. πŸš—πŸ’¦

Your Inner Voice Knows More Than You Think

The intuition, gut instinct, or subtle poking that directs us is our internal messenger. It doesn't kick down doors like a movie hero, nor is it loud or dramatic. Rather, it's more like to a composed buddy stating, "You might want to rethink that."

As Socrates once said, “Know thyself.” That wisdom isn’t just philosophical fluff—it’s a reminder that the answers we seek are often already locked within us.

When we trust this inner voice, we can make decisions that align with who we truly are. When we ignore it… well, that’s when we end up in situations of regret where we later say, “I knew I shouldn’t have done that.” πŸ™ƒ

Why We Ignore It (Even When We Know Better)

Let’s be honest—trusting your internal messenger isn’t always simple. Sometimes it tells you things you don’t want to hear, like:

* “You should probably go to bed instead of scrolling for 2 more hours.” πŸ“±

* “Maybe that comfort zone isn’t so comfortable anymore…”

* “You already know the answer—you’re just basically avoiding it.”

Any thoughts??

We frequently use noise, such as social media, other people's viewpoints, or simple denial, to block out that voice. The problem is that ignoring your inner voice won't make it go away. Later on, it just gets louder—usually in the form of regret.

As Blaise Pascal put it, “All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.” Translation: we avoid ourselves, and that’s where the trouble begins.

Trusting It = Leveling Up Your Mindset

When you start listening to your internal messenger, something powerful happens—you build *trust with yourself*. πŸ’ͺ

And that starts to change everything.

Your decision-making confidence grows. You don't doubt yourself as much. You cease seeking approval from other people since you already possess it on your own.

It's similar to changing your perspective from "I hope this works" to "I know this feels right."

Additionally, following your instincts keeps you in line with your principles. You make decisions based on who you really are rather than what you believe you *should* be..

As Ralph Waldo Emerson wisely said, *“Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.”* (Also, Emerson definitely would’ve made an awesome motivational podcaster. Just saying. πŸŽ™️)

Start Listening Today

You don’t need a dramatic life overhaul to reconnect with your inner voice. Start small:

Pause and take a breathe before making decisions.

Check in with how something *feels*.

Spend a little time in silence (yes, even 5 minutes helps!).

And most importantly—act on those nudges. The more you listen, the stronger that voice becomes.

Because at the end of the day, your internal messenger isn’t trying to confuse you—it’s trying to guide you toward your best self.

So maybe next time it whispers… don’t ignore it. It might just be the smartest voice in the room. πŸ˜‰
